Alexander Baranoff on October 4th 1943 at position 31°05'N 131°30'W appr.670 miles off California Coast. Owned by Department of Commerce and transferred to USSR under Lend / Lease operated by Far Eastern Shipping Co.under USSR Flag and Registry. There is confusion about Name and Flag at this date. USMC Status Cards shows, Vessel transferred to USSR under Lend / Lease, but Picture shows her without USSR neutrality markings at a date where she operates by the USSR, also position is not normal for USSR vessels trading between US / Canada west coast to USSR.
