Ships build under the Merchant Marine Act of 1936
Samsette (ex- Augustine Herman) on March 4th 1944 leaving Hampton Roads with convoy UGS-35 (Hampton Roads / Port Said) at position 36°52'N 74°43'W course 085° appr.93 miles southeast off Chesapeake Bay. Owned by U.S.Department of Commerce and transferred to British Ministry of War Transport under Lend / Lease and operated by A.Holt & Co.
