USS Culebra Island on November 30th 1943 one day after she was delivered incomplete to the Navy by Bethlehem-Fairfield Shipyards Inc., Baltimore, Maryland. Owned by U.S.Department of Commerce and loaned to the Navy under Bare Boat Charter Agreement.
